NEW
HCP Learning Lab Project
Currently in the Planning & Design Phase
The H. Clarke Powers School (HCP) Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is continually seeking opportunities to support and add value to our HCP campus, our teachers, students, and families. In this regard, we are excited to provide a brief update on an exciting project currently in the design and planning stages – the HCP Learning Lab.
The proposed HCP Learning Lab is intended to bring expanded learning, design, and art opportunities to our school. The Project would be an entirely new, innovative, versatile, and high-tech building on the HCP campus to provide opportunities for HCP teachers and staff to expand hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for students and the community with a focus on supporting HCP’s commitment to our IB Traits and priorities.
Among some of the key features being incorporated into the planning and design process include ensuring a flexible space to accommodate learning, design, and art activities as well as sufficient functionality for an array of potential projects including woodworking, 3-D printing, large art projects, culinary arts, recording arts, science projects such as those around physics and earth sciences, and much more. The Learning Lab is being designed with a focus on elevating the HCP learning experience for all grades and rounding out their educational experience.
Importantly, financing for the HCP Learning Lab Project will come, in part, from HCP PTC reserves and fundraising as well as solicitation of local businesses and developers. However, financing isn’t the only need to make this Project a reality – we need YOU! Please be sure to join the HCP PTC to receive important updates on the Project and to learn about upcoming events. Further, if you or someone you know has a business or sells supplies that could help bring this Project to reality, please contact us. All proceeds from participation as a PTC member help to support a great number of exciting activities and investments in our school, children’s’ education and extracurricular programs including this HCP Learning Lab Project.
